If you go shopping for some floating bathroom vanity shelves, you’re going to become overwhelmed with how many options there are. Not only are there a plethora of sizes, but there are endless shapes, styles, designs, and colors. So instead of getting confused and frustrated in wondering which one will best suit your needs, let’s go through what you need to consider before purchasing a vanity.

What to Consider About Floating Bathroom Vanity Shelves

Something might look fantastic online, but it might not work out so well once it gets to your home. So to avoid awkward and annoying returns, here are the things you need to consider before buying.

Budget

You can narrow down or widen your choices quickly once you’ve decided how much you are willing to spend. Of course, this might mean you have to sit down with your spouse to get clear about your budget, but once you do, you can get a better idea of your options.

Aesthetics

While a mid-century modern vanity looks terrific in the photos you saw on Houzz, but if you have a more traditional style home, you might want to consider other options. For example, does the bathroom have a color theme? Also, be sure that the new vanity will suit the aesthetics of the existing bathroom to avoid it clashing with the rest of your bathroom.

Size

These floating bathroom vanities come in a wide range of sizes. Some will fit in large bathrooms with ample wall space, while others are designed perfectly for small bathrooms. Either way, you’ll want to get accurate measurements of the area you have before you buy someone too small, or worse, too big.

Weight Capacity

Unfortunately, it isn’t magic that is holding these floating bathroom vanities off the floor. So while it might seem like they will hold up anything, they won’t. This is an important feature to consider and often involves more than one thing. The vanity itself, the tools used to attach it, and the wall it’s attached to will all play a role in how much weight the vanity can handle. This is important to note if you plan to store heavy items in the cabinet or if you plan to let your kid sit on the counter while you dry their hair.

Propose

Since they come in such a wide range of designs and styles, it’s best to get clear about the vanity’s purpose. This way, you know if you need extra drawers, towel holders, or other details. For example, will it be in a kid’s bathroom, or will it serve as your main bathroom? Will you need extra storage for your backup shampoo bottles? Or will it be in a hall bathroom that’s only used when guests are visiting?

Some of Our Favorite Floating Bathroom Vanity Shelves

Now that we’ve gotten the planning out of the way let’s dive into some of our favorite floating bathroom vanity shelves that might work perfectly in your home.

Modern Vanity by George Oliver

This vanity on Wayfair comes in a modern design and could work perfectly for smaller to medium-sized bathrooms. It stands 28 inches tall, 18 inches deep, and 31 inches wide. The vanity has a white exterior with two spaces for open storage, then has a dark wooden cabinet for extra and more private storage. The sink sits on top and allows for room around it where you can set down a toothbrush or hand soap.

Nadiya Vanity by Signature Hardware

Its simple and small design is ideal for smaller bathrooms that need a spot for a sink, soap, and maybe a towel. The design is sleek and will lend itself well to a modern or even mid-century modern design. It’s 30 inches wide and has cutouts in the front to hang hand towels. It’s a space-saving vanity with a warm chestnut brown look that we love.

Large Stone Vanity by Homary

If the all-white look isn’t your thing, you might like this gray and black stone counter floating vanity. However, it’s larger and might be better suited for medium to larger-sized bathrooms. It stands 21.64 inches tall, 18.9 inches deep, and 35.4 inches wide. The bigger size provides ample space on either side of the sink for lotions, hairdryers, or other bathroom necessities to be rested on it. In addition, the two drawers offer a lot of private storage, while the two open sides are great for towels or aesthetically pleasing bathroom supplies.

Small Draven Vanity by Everly Quinn

You can purchase this stunning vanity on Wayfair, and if you’re looking for a more traditional-looking floating vanity, this might be the one for you. It’s a more petite vanity standing at only 17.56 inches tall, 18.5 inches deep, and 24 inches wide. The two drawers are a bit deceiving. The top drawer is actually a tilt out with a small area for storing maybe toothpaste or a lotion bottle. The bottom drawer is a pull-out drawer where you can keep a small amount of bathroom items. The sink leaves a small amount of space on the side to rest a soap bottle, but this small vanity is best suited for tight bathrooms without much space. However, we love the green color and pop of gold.

His and Her Vanity by DraftWoodDesign

You can find a plethora of things on Etsy, and it seems that a floating vanity is one of them. This his and her floating vanity is huge compared to the others on the list and measures 6 feet wide. This one is ideal for large master bathrooms where sharing a sink just isn’t an option. There is plenty of counter space and two cabinets, and three drawers for storage. This is a heavy vanity that will need professional-level installation, but its mid-century design is classic.

Even if you don’t choose one of our favorites, be sure to use the guide above to narrow down your choices to make life easier on yourself. Of course, this will also ensure you end up with a vanity that’s best suited for your needs.
